THE BUNGALOW MANIFESTO
I BELIEVE your home is Eden–it should be your retreat you find sanctuary in.
I BELIEVE more in the ideas behind something than the actual object itself.
I BELIEVE the most elegant things can be practical and never gather dust (because you’re using them).
I BELIEVE in my muses: Bernard Leach, the craftsman movement, Frank Lloyd Wright, Keats, Hemingway, BBC programming, F. Scott Fitzgerald, William Morris, Madeleine Peyroux, Miles Davis, Chihuly, Monet, the foam in my coffee and a really good pudding.
I BELIEVE in having 5 blankets on the bed, wearing excessive layers (t shirts, hoodies, and blazers) and coziness.
I BELIEVE in traveling while you’re young as much as possible.
I BELIEVE in juicing and homemade ice cream.
I BELIEVE in giving and getting gifts–frequently, and mostly for no reason, other than the natural joy it comes from and brings.
I BELIEVE the industrial revolution, facebook, helicopter parenting, professional politicians, and processed foods have messed up our world horribly. So…go buy a piece of pottery. It won’t mess you up at all.
I BELIEVE evidence that something is handmade is often more lovely and should be left visible.
I BELIEVE that life is better without an iPhone or a blackberry. Go pick real blackberries, that’d be nice. Mmm.
I BELIEVE in no such thing as too much pottery. Ever.
I BELIEVE sometimes you should let your heart do the shopping–especially at my online store.
I BELIEVE the simplest tools leave behind the most profound, handmade work.
I BELIEVE that excellent quilts, pots, furniture, lighting and food nourish the body in more ways than simply nutrition.
I BELIEVE in the craftsman movement, and wish everyone could live inside an amazing Sears-Roebuck Bungalow.
I BELIEVE in being organic–and organic modern style.
I BELIEVE my pots and designs are award winning–even if I’ve not won any.
I BELIEVE that my pots will make you happier, younger, and thinner.
I BELIEVE design builds communities and makes life better.
I BELIEVEin the art of being a proper gentleman, without having to wear proper tails to dinner. And if so, I’d wear my whites, never tuxedo–you look like wait staff.
I BELIEVE that blue, brown and orange are best friends.
I BELIEVE earth tones are the best color combinations in the world, and existed first.
I BELIEVE that ethical pots (handmade, simpler forms and functionality) can be expressive too.
I BELIEVE forms can transcend into something more than good looks.
I BELIEVE cats have the best sleep schedule. Ever.
I BELIEVE that most people should have equally as much inspiration from living people as former historical ones–albeit writers, potters, or change makers.
I BELIEVE orange is one of the best colors in the world, but like a good spice, shouldn’t be used everywhere–and you shouldn’t be afraid of it either.
I BELIEVE everyone can do what they love if they so choose.
I BELIEVE in the luxury that exists is being practical, yet refined.
I BELIEVE in honest, long-lasting relationships with your décor and pottery.
I BELIEVE you should buy something from my studio. And do it again and again.
